The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
